WG1 – Cancer Early Diagnosis and Screening Implementation, Optimization, Data Collection and Monitoring

WG1 focuses on strengthening and harmonizing early diagnosis and screening programmes for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers across Mediterranean countries.
Its work includes:

  • Defining context-specific priorities and minimum requirements for effective and sustainable screening implementation.
  • Collecting and sharing best practices and evidence-based guidelines, supporting their adaptation to local healthcare systems.
  • Reviewing national information systems (IT) and data protection frameworks to improve data collection and monitoring capacity.
  • Establishing a core set of indicators for quality assurance and cross-country benchmarking.
  • Promoting training in data management and interpretation in collaboration with WG3.
  • Assessing the sustainability and cost-effectiveness of prevention policies, and developing country-specific roadmaps for scaling-up cancer screening services.

WG1 lays the foundation for quality, comparability, and sustainability of cancer prevention efforts in the Mediterranean area.
