WG1 focuses on strengthening and harmonizing early diagnosis and screening programmes for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers across Mediterranean countries.
Its work includes:
- Defining context-specific priorities and minimum requirements for effective and sustainable screening implementation.
- Collecting and sharing best practices and evidence-based guidelines, supporting their adaptation to local healthcare systems.
- Reviewing national information systems (IT) and data protection frameworks to improve data collection and monitoring capacity.
- Establishing a core set of indicators for quality assurance and cross-country benchmarking.
- Promoting training in data management and interpretation in collaboration with WG3.
- Assessing the sustainability and cost-effectiveness of prevention policies, and developing country-specific roadmaps for scaling-up cancer screening services.
WG1 lays the foundation for quality, comparability, and sustainability of cancer prevention efforts in the Mediterranean area.
