New scientific article on cancer screening and vulnerable populations

A new scientific article linked to COST Action Medi-CaSE (CA23151) has been published in the journal Diseases. The paper, titled “Cancer Screening and Prevention in MENA and Mediterranean Populations: A Multi-Level Analysis of Barriers, Knowledge Gaps, and Interventions Across Indigenous and Diaspora Communities,” reviews evidence from 724 studies on cancer screening in the Middle East, North Africa (MENA), and Mediterranean regions.

The study highlights persistent disparities in access to screening for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers, particularly among vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and low-income women. It also discusses promising solutions, including culturally adapted health education, community-based interventions, and digital health tools.

This work contributes to the goals of COST Action Medi-CaSE, supporting research collaboration and knowledge exchange to improve cancer prevention and early detection across the Mediterranean region.
